Furry Friday – or Saturday?

Today is Saturday and I have lost track of what day of the week it is. It’s also the last Saturday in January. How did that happen? Wasn’t New Year’s Day last week?

The entire month of January has gone by in a flash. I apologize for not posting much here, but I have been busy, or – more appropriately – not focused. My attention has been scattered across several projects. I enrolled in a month-long course on drafting a book proposal for my memoir, hoping to start looking for agents and publishers soon! I’ve also attended a few online classes on writing and submitting poetry because my first love will always be poetry.

This year, I have also become a volunteer with the Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Association. If you, or anyone you know, has HCM or has a family history of the disease, please send them to the HCMA. Many great advancements have occurred recently in the treatment of HCM to help treat the genetic heart condition.

This week, I’m packing ahead of a two-week long trip to Hawaii! We will be joining my father and stepmother for some fun in the sun. Last year, my husband and I climbed Diamond Head, and I wrote an essay about the experience. It’s not published yet, but once it finds a home, I will post a link here. This year, I’ve found a couple other locations for hiking. As you may have guessed, there won’t be any posts until we get back because I will be on the beach, not on the computer while we are on vacation.

Enough about me. You’re here for the dogs. Gidget McFidget continues to do well, and Bruce Wayne is still his happy and silly self, twirling after his stubby tail every time the food bowls appear. They will be staying with friends and family while we travel, and they will probably receive more spoiling than they get at our house.

Pictures of the pampered pooches below:

Bruce is wondering if he will get any walkies in the snow, while Gidget looks at me like it’s all my fault. ”Mama, turn off the snow machine already!”

Gidget is in my lap while Bruce tries to climb into my lap with a toy in his mouth. She is waiting for him to get close enough for her to steal it from him.

We had a stretch of single digit weather so the fireplace blazed for most of the day. Bruce set up shop on the loveseat and displayed his lack of modesty. Gidget took the orthopedic pet bed directly in front of the hearth and gave a tiny tongue blep of contentedness.
