Furry Friday – Howl-o-ween edition

After our visit to Omaha, we drove back home in time for Halloween. The drive from Central Time to Eastern Time always seems to take longer than going the other way. We left Omaha at 7:30 in the morning and arrived home just before 11:00 pm, losing an hour to the time change and another hour to traffic near Chicago, plus two hours or so for bathroom breaks and gas station visits. The dogs enjoyed the drive.

Gidget enjoyed uninterrupted lap time while Bruce decided the floor in the back seat was the most comfortable spot in the car.

But Bruce did manage to get some lap time for a portion of the drive.

We got home in time to spend the weekend unpacking and unwinding before we handed out candy on Tuesday.  We didn’t dress up the dogs in costumes this year because I didn’t have the energy after that drive.  They did get to watch for the little ghouls and goblins from their favorite perch on the ottoman in the front window.

It was extremely cold on Halloween, and we got a little snow in the evening.  This resulted in a shortage of beggars and an excess of candy.  The last kid who came to the door had a five-gallon Home Depot bucket, and I dumped our bowl in his bucket and turned out the light.  It was too cold to keep standing outside hoping for more kids to visit.

Next year, I hope we will have better weather and I will have the energy to dress up the Dynamic Doggie Duo in coordinating costumes. I’m thinking of Batman and the Joker to suit their personalities.
