We’re wrapping up a short but busy week. The neighbor’s tree dropped another limb and took out our power once more. This time, tree trimmers chopped away the remaining dead limbs and we hope to be done with yelling “timber” in our own back yard.
Bruce Wayne had another round of injections for his heartworm treatment. For the second round, he went to the vet on two consecutive days and received injections on both days. The poor little guy had to stay at the vet all day both days, but he was far from neglected. He is a little cuddle bug, and the vet techs took turns holding him like a roly-poly teddy bear during the day. Someone even decorated the bag containing his medications.

When the vet shaved his back for the injection last month, they only shaved the left side, and I noticed his speckled skin underneath. This time, they shaved both sides of his lower back, and I noticed that the speckles on the side they previously shaved were much darker than the speckles on his newly shaved skin. After a moment of pondering, I realized that the previously shaved area had received sun exposure for a month, darkening the speckles just like freckles in the sun. Now he is a two-toned speckled pup.

It’s chilly and damp in Michigan this morning, and I Bruce was burrowing into the blankets on his chair like he was cold. My guess is the naked skin on his back must feel especially chilled since it is newly naked. To combat his chill, I dressed him in his Christmas pajamas because I don’t know where I stored his little sweater when I packed things away in the spring. He does not seem impressed by playing dress-up today.

For the right number of snacks, Bruce will wear anything. Gidget is staying out of the situation for fear of having to wear an outfit. She is not fond of doggie clothes unless it’s her coat to go outside on cold days.
