First Steps in the Reorganization of the U.S. Transplant System

On July 21, 2023, the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) held an Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN) Industry Day meeting.  This event was an invitation only meeting for potential vendors for the future administration of the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network contract. 

Objectives of the meeting included:

  • Exploring the feasibility and functionality of a multiple-award indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract
  • Ensuring patient safety by maintaining uninterrupted organ system operations
  • Continuity of OPTN functionality.

Items covered at the meeting included:

  • An overview of the current notional contracting strategy.
  • A presentation and discussion focused on aspects of the Performance Work Statement requirements and contract structure.
  • Information discussed during the session may be used by the Government to refine its requirements, and finalize the information needed for the upcoming Transition IDIQ solicitation.
  • Technical Evaluation Factors for HRSA to consider.
  • The procurement timeline.
